Success Online

So much has been written about success in general. There are many publications both online and offline that offer lots of helpful information. But those who are successful have put what they learn into action.

Each of us has our own definition of what success means to us in all areas of our lives. This article will focus on business success online and how to avoid sabotaging yourself in this area.

No matter how strong your desire is to be successful in business, it’s possible that you are unconsciously doing things that are sabotaging your chances to experience true success.

It may be a fear of success or fear of failure. But you can work through this if you know how to recognize it, stop it and turn it around.

Here are 7 self-sabotaging habits that might be preventing your success online.

1. Failure to Launch

Not Implementing what you’ve learned is a form of procrastination and that won’t get you to success. At some point in the learning process you must get busy and as Nike once said, “just do it”.

When you start any new venture there will be a period of clinical training. When I was in nursing school years ago, I was required to complete many clinical hours. This is hands on learning. I was grateful for those hours and the experience. So push forward and get your business launched.

2. Not having the right Coach or Mentor

Everyone needs someone who is positive and on their side but who also knows the steps to success.

Don’t rely on your best friend or even your mother for this job. Finding a business coach who has lots of experience, failures and successes under their belt can offer you lots of amazing wisdom.

If your goal is to be successful online, then hire an ONLINE BUSINESS COACH. Choose someone who has experience and an understanding of what it takes to be successful and how to make money online.

3. Focusing on the Wrong Things

It’s easy to get side-tracked and place your focus on the wrong things. Busy work is not necessarily going to earn you a single dime.

Learning what the main things are that will make you money or accomplish your goals and doing them day after day, no matter what, will get you where you want to be.

For instance if your goal is to build a large following you’ll need a large email list. This will require you to select the best autoresponder service for your business. I personally like FREE to start services. My new favorite is CONVERTKIT. Your first 1,000 subscribers are free.

Focus and do the money-making activities first thing in your day. At the end of the day you will be happy for your accomplishment and one step further to being a success online.

4. Too many projects, finishing nothing.

If you are the type of person who has several projects going at the same time and nothing finished, this behavior will not get you to success.

Many of us are guilty of this one. Including me.

It can be very hard to choose just one project to focus on, but it must be done. Pick one of the projects most close to being finished and finish it. It will feel good.

Misguided perfectionism can make or break a good business.

5. Trying to Reinvent the Wheel

A mentor of mine used to tell me, “there’s nothing new out there, just a new spin on old knowledge”.

I’m not sure this is always true but it’s a waste of time to focus on the wrong things. Other people have gone before you and designed and implemented perfection already in most cases.

When it comes to certain business practices it’s important that you don’t try to recreate something that won’t work. Likely someone tried that before and found it didn’t work either.

A good example of this is marketing funnels in online marketing. So many people say they dislike them and refuse to use them. Well, these are tried-and-true practices that get results.

If you want success, do what the successful people do.

6. Self-Doubt that leads to Quitting

If you suffer from self-doubt, you may need professional help to get you through it. That help can come from a counselor, a Life Coach or a mentor, but you should find a way to get rid of that nagging feeling so you can get yourself on the right path to your success.

Very often self-doubt comes to us in the form of self-talk. Ask yourself, are my thoughts taking me down a path towards reaching my goals and desires or are they taking me on the road to ruin?

You can win this battle with the right help so don’t quit, get what you need.

7. Being Lazy

People don’t want to think of themselves as lazy, but let’s be honest, most people are. Admitting it is difficult.

Laziness is a success killer in business. That’s why it’s your job to make it easy for your customers to buy from you and to select your  services.

If you study successful business people you will learn that they all have specific daily habits that they practice every day.

Start by determining what your “juice time” is. By that I mean the time you are the most energized and can accomplish the most with less time.

Do the important tasks within your “juice time” and you will be working smart, not hard.

In Summary

Success online is not accomplished in a straight line. Sometimes your journey will take you down roads less traveled and lead you towards the path that you should’ve been on in the first place.

Don’t sabotage yourself or your success. Instead take control and make good decisions for yourself and your business. Take steps daily to do what it takes to earn the type of money you want and need to earn. If it feels right, just go with it.
